Overview

Antojitos Lolita brings a vibrant slice of Mexican street food to Hammond, Louisiana, right from its food truck stationed at 1600 W Thomas St. This spot is a treasure trove for lovers of authentic Mexican flavors, especially for those craving traditional dishes like barbacoa burritos, huaraches, and the ever-popular street tacos. The menu also proudly showcases a variety of pupusas, including unique options like pupusas de loroco con queso and pupusas rebuelas, offering a taste of Salvadoran influence that complements the Mexican fare.

For anyone familiar with the bustling taco scenes of bigger cities, Antojitos Lolita delivers a genuine and comforting experience, evoking the essence of street food culture with every bite. The barbacoa burrito stands out for its rich, slow-cooked meat wrapped in a warm tortilla, while the street tacos—especially carnitas and al pastor—are lauded for their vibrant seasoning and fresh, flavorful toppings like grilled onions. The attention to detail extends to their house-made salsas, which customers often praise for enhancing each dish perfectly.

The setting is intentionally straightforward — a food truck where the focus is solely on delivering hot, fresh, and affordable meals. While the space itself doesn't offer the ambiance of a traditional sit-down restaurant, it caters perfectly to those seeking quick, satisfying comfort food. Service is consistently friendly and down-to-earth, matching the casual, no-frills atmosphere.

Patrons come from varied backgrounds — from locals appreciating authentic Mexican street food to visitors longing for nostalgic flavors reminiscent of their hometowns. While some reviews mention the portions being modest and occasional inconsistencies in operational hours, the overall consensus underlines the quality and authenticity that keep people coming back. The mix of Mexican staples and Salvadoran specialties like pupusas makes this a rare culinary stop that satisfies diverse palates craving genuine, hearty street eats.

In summary, Antojitos Lolita shines as a humble yet passionate purveyor of Mexican street food, anchored by a menu filled with classic dishes elevated by freshness and thoughtful preparation. It’s ideal for those who value bold flavors, cultural authenticity, and a casual dining experience that puts quality above all else.

I grew up in L.A. where taco trucks are on every other street corner. I started to feel down about the street food out here (for what I’m used to) until I came across this spot. First, the sopes are so good, they hit everytime. Their pupusas are so tasty and I love the street tacos, my go to is pastor. I love the grilled onions they add, it adds to the flavor and make sure to grab their salsas because they know what they’re doing. 10/10

Their Face Book says open 7 days a week but came all the way to Hammond on Sunday to find no truck. Also found out they are not open on Monday either. They should change their FB and Google hours of operation. The steak Street Tacos were d@mn delicious, Steak Burritos very good Cow tongue Burrito was also excellent (but they (sadly) put less tongue meat than they do the steak burrito). Will definitely be my go to for authentic Mexican food.

It was good but not as good as the pics made it seem. The tacos were tiny and barely had any meat in them (steak, al pastor, and chicken). Meh on the flavor. I liked the burrito (al pastor). The sopes my husband really liked I didn't care for it. We also got the Frijole poposas and they were okay but definitely not yummy and gewy like they look in the pics.

We ordered a barbacoa burrito, a bean papusa, and four tacos (two al pastor and two carnitas). Everything was excellent! Getting attention to place the order was a little slow (they were pretty busy) but everything else was quick after. If you are a fan of tacos and taco trucks - get over there! Edit: Visited again a few months later - still a sound recommendation. Got steak tacos this time - very tasty. Love the pile of sautéed onions included as well.
